David Harmer

David will be appearing at this year's Gala Day with Paul Cookson.

David Harmer was born in 1952. He is married to Paula with two children, Lizzie and Harriet and is a primary school headteacher in Doncaster. David's stories and poems for children and adults are widely publicised.

Currently, Macmillans Children's Books publish most of his children's work. David has just completed an MA in Writing Studies at Sheffield Hallam University. In his spare time, he performs in the poetry duo Spill The Beans with Paul Cookson.

Spill The Beans began 10 years ago when Dave Harmer and Paul Cookson got together. They perform poems as a duo with the dynamics of two voices, two characters etc. There's lots of audience participation and fun - it's more like a poetry pantomime in atmosphere than a poetry reading. It's great fun.
