Paul Cookson

Paul Cookson

Paul Cookson has been performing poetry and helping children to write their own poems since 1989. He has performed extensively throughout the country at schools, libraries, pop concerts, churches, pubs, radio stations and even selected front rooms! He has also taken part in the major Literary Festivals at Edinburgh and Cheltenham. He is also a freelance illustrator specializing in cartoons and often draws as part of his workshops.

His performances are always lively and exciting and always actively involve the audience – whatever their age! He has the unique ability to captivate everyone with a perfect mix of the silly, the sensitive and the serious.

A former teacher, Paul spends most of his time performing poetry and running poetry workshops for both adults and children.

Paul has written and edited a number of books for Macmillan Children’s Books including: Unzip your Lips, Tongue Twisters and Tonsil Twizzlers, Who Rules the School, Teachers’ Pets, Ridiculous Relatives, Don't Get Your Knickers in a Twist, The Best of Paul Cookson and You’re Not Going Out like That.
